Your agent, right where you're writing.

Ruru is a native macOS assistant that appears at your caret, understands the context around you, and puts the answer back where you were working. It stays out of the way until you call it.

Requires macOS 14.0 or later. Free for 7 days, no account needed.

Features

Summon from anywhere
Open Ruru with ⌥Space, a double-Shift, or by typing @@ in any text field. The trigger characters are removed once the summon is accepted.
Selection quick actions
Select text and act on it directly — ask, explain, improve, summarize, translate, copy, or search the web.
Context attachments
Attach the selection, the active window or screen, the clipboard, or files you pick. Drag and drop onto the composer works too.
On-device OCR
Apple's Vision framework turns screen text into prompt context without the capture ever leaving your Mac.
Insert or copy answers
Put the response back into the app you were using, with a clipboard fallback when direct insertion is not possible.
In-place refinement
Revise an answer where it stands instead of growing an ever-longer chat transcript.
Bring your own agent
Local CLI agents — Claude Code, Codex, Grok, Cursor Agent, Pi, Hermes, OpenCode, Antigravity, or a custom command — and direct APIs from Anthropic, OpenAI, and OpenRouter.
Skills
Type / in the composer to load a skill from the shelf the selected agent actually reads, autocompleted as you type.
Connectors
Mention @github or @linear to pull in repositories, issues, and pull requests. Credentials stay in the macOS Keychain and nothing is fetched until a message asks for it.
Terminal handoff
Press ⌘Return to hand the prompt to your terminal when a turn wants an interactive CLI session.
