- Summon from anywhere
- Open Ruru with ⌥Space, a double-Shift, or by typing @@ in any text field. The trigger characters are removed once the summon is accepted.

For real work, yes. Ruru does not bundle model quota — it runs the CLI agents already installed on your Mac, or calls Anthropic, OpenAI, or OpenRouter with your own key. A built-in demo agent works with no key at all, so you can look around first.
Every install starts with a 7-day trial — no account, no email, no card. After that, a one-time lifetime license covers all future updates and can be active on two Macs at once. Refunds are available within 14 days; the details are in the refund policy.
Polar emails your key after payment and keeps it in the Polar customer portal. Use the purchase recovery guide if you need to find it or activate another Mac.
Only when you ask it to. Ruru has no upload pipeline of its own: prompts and context go straight from your Mac to the agent or connector you chose, never through a Ruru server. History lives in Application Support and credentials in the macOS Keychain. The privacy policy walks through each case.
Accessibility reads the focused text field and inserts responses. Input Monitoring listens for the summon gestures. Screen Recording is optional and used only when you capture a window or run OCR — the menu bar and keyboard shortcut work without it.
Through Sparkle, reading a signed appcast published alongside the public GitHub releases. Ruru checks for updates and installs them in place; nothing about your prompts or files is sent with the check.
